Hilary Mcgrady visits Croome, in Worcestershire, on her first day as director-general of the National Trust. She takes over from Dame Helen Ghosh as leader of one of Europe’s biggest conservation charities, with five million members, 300 historic properties, 775 miles of coastline and 600,000 acres of countryside in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
