Facebook pulls plug on Britain First’s page

Facebook has purged far-right group Britain First, shutting down the group’s page, which had two million followers.

It has also deleted the pages of Paul Golding, its leader, and Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader.

Britain First, which had double the following of any other UK political party on Facebook, was removed for repeatedly sharing videos designed to incite hatred against Muslims.

Facebook took four months to remove Britain First for violating its rules after objections were raised by the Commons home affairs select committee. Facebook said its own warnings had been ignored.
