Mariam gang ‘may have attacked wrong girl’

The Egyptian-born student who died after allegedly being battered by a 10-strong gang of girls may have been attacked in a case of mistaken identity.

Mariam Moustafa, 18, died three weeks after the vicious assault in Nottingham last month.

Her relatives have told how they believe the yobs may have confused Mariam with a similar-looking teenager who had been taunting them on Instagram using the name “black rose”.

A 17-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of assault is still in custody, Nottinghamshire Police said.
