Trips to Russia

sir – David Vezey (Letters, March 19), who is worried about his forthcoming trip to Russia, is looking at the issue from the wrong end of his telescope.

Given the state of Anglo-russian relations at the moment, any unnecessary travel to Russia should be viewed as courting risk from officious state authorities and malevolent anti-british groups within the country.

If he is anxious about going to Russia as a tourist (and I would be at this time), he shouldn’t go. Martin Hooker
