20 EU states back Britain

Up to 20 EU member states are understood to be preparing to expel Russian officials.

France, Germany, Poland, the Irish Republic, Denmark, the Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria are among those poised to take action.

The EU’S concerted effort will begin with the recall of the European Union’s ambassador to Moscow today.
