Supercar driver loses watch to thief on moped

THE driver of an Audi R8 supercar was robbed of his £4,500 watch by a moped rider who pulled alongside and asked him the time.

The white R8 was waiting at a mini-roundabout when the moped stopped next to the motorist.

When the driver of the £120,000 car held out his arm to show him the time on his watch, the rider yanked the Tag Heuer Calibre 16 from his wrist. The angry victim managed to push the young man off his moped, before he got back on and rode off down a footpath.

Hampshire Police are hunting the moped rider and appealing for witnesses to the robbery which happened at 8.45am on Friday in Basingstoke.

Police described the suspect as white, about 18 to 20 and weighing around 11st.
