Labour anti-semitism
SIR – Jeremy Corbyn has admitted that Labour has a problem with “pockets of anti-semitism” (report, March 26). Many think this is too little, too late.
The Jewish Leadership Council has concluded that the ideological fixations of Mr Corbyn’s acolytes on the extreme Left bring with them an instinctively hostile view of Jewish communities. That is undoubtedly true. However, this is not just due to their in-built hatred of Israel but also, as a repellent mural demonstrated, their loathing of capitalism, with which they associate Jews.
That is why Mr Corbyn finds it so hard to apologise. Brian Pegnall

SIR – Mr Corbyn claims that Labour is an anti-racist party.
I wonder what he would say about last week’s march against racism in Glasgow, which was joined by Jews, Christians and Israeli visitors, who held banners condemning antisemitism and flew Israeli flags.
Shamefully, they were forced to the back of the march by a pro-palestinian group, who shouted abuse at them. Such protesters – bedfellows of the far-left – are dangerous anti-semites. They claim to be anti-zionist, which allows them to hide their hatred under a cloak of respectability. C M Muir
