Cows on the line bring trains to a halt

A herd of cows delayed trains for more than 20 minutes after wandering on to the tracks.

Around eight cows surprised passengers at Blackwater station in Surrey on Saturday night, with one even walking along the platform.

Trains were delayed between Reading and Gatwick Airport while Network Rail staff returned the cows to their field.

It is thought they got on to the track at a nearby level crossing.

A Great Western Railway spokesman apologised to customers for any inconvenience.
