She wanted sex, says rape case Uber driver

-

‘She hugged me... I tried to control myself for some time but how far could I have controlled myself?’

AN UBER driver accused of raping a female passenger claims he “gave in” to her advances, a court heard.

Muhammad Durrani, 38, allegedly grabbed the 27-year-old woman from her doorstep as she searched for her keys, then raped her on the back seat of his car.

The woman ordered a car to take her from a live music venue in Clapham, south London, to her home in west London because she felt too drunk to stay out.

Jurors heard that during his police interview Mr Durrani claimed the woman started to hug and kiss him outside her house and so he hugged and kissed her back.

“She went into my car herself,” he said. “She was right outside her front door. She hugged me with her own free will. I tried to control myself for some time but how far could I have controlled myself?”

The married driver told officers: “I didn’t want to do it because it was not right. She forced me into it. After all, a human being is a human being.”

He said he did not think the woman looked drunk when she got into his taxi and had a conversation with him.

Mr Durrani, of Streatham, south London, denies one count of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The trial continues.
