Officer who ‘ran over suspect’ faces dismissal

-

A POLICE officer who ran over a suspect during a pursuit before saying “that’s how you deal with that” is facing dismissal.

PC Rowan Huskisson, 33, mounted the pavement and ploughed into the man who broke free after being detained by nightclub door staff in Cambridge.

“The officer drove his vehicle towards the male who ran across the pavement and appeared to be running towards the road,” the misconduct notification said. “The officer then began to turn the vehicle towards the pavement and drove straight towards the male mounting the pavement. The front of the vehicle collided with the male … and came to a stop on the pavement.”

He was then allegedly heard saying “that’s how you deal with that” moments after turning his squad car into the direction of the suspect. It is not known whether the suspect was injured in the incident, which happened at around 3.40am on May 28 last year.

Cambridgeshire Police yesterday confirmed PC Huskisson is due to attend a misconduct hearing.
