Shots delay UN’S Douma ‘gas attack’ probe
The world’s chemical arms watchdog froze its probe into an alleged Syrian chemical attack near Damascus, demanding “unhindered access” after a UN reconnaissance mission came under fire yesterday.
The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (opcw) inspectors have yet to begin their work in Douma, where dozens were killed in the reported gas attack. The OPCW said its team would stay put in Damascus if its safety was not guaranteed.
