Long garments needn’t stop you cycling

sir – Your report (“How Victorians fashioned a solution to cycling in a skirt”, April 16) reminded me of the days when some of our clergy wore cassocks all the time.

When we cycled, we simply tucked them into our belts. This answered the frequent question about what we wore under our cassocks (usually trousers). Anthony Appleby
