‘Re­cruiter for 9/11’ held by Kur­dish forces in Syria

A ji­hadist linked to 9/11 has been cap­tured in Syria by Pen­tagon-backed Kur­dish forces, sources said.

Mo­ham­mad Hay­dar Zam­mar, a Ger­man who has been ac­cused of re­cruit­ing some of the 9/11 al-qaeda air­craft hi­jack­ers, was cap­tured more than a month ago by the Syr­ian Demo­cratic Forces (SDF), a Kur­dish­led mili­tia backed by the US.

The Pen­tagon said: “We can con­firm that Mo­ham­mad Hay­dar Zam­mar, a Syr­ian-born Ger­man na­tional, was cap­tured more than a month ago by SDF part­ners as part of their on­go­ing op­er­a­tions to de­feat Isil inside Syria.”
