In the Spring British Simultaneous pairs, 43 clubs and 715 pairs took part on the Monday session, writes Julian Pottage,

Bridge Correspondent, while 50 clubs and 831 pairs took part on the Tuesday session.

Winners from these two sessions are as follows:

Monday: 1st Alan Coker and Roy Causton (Orton, Peterborough), 75.76%; 2nd Glynn Elwick and Keith Stewart (Scunthorpe), 69.05%; 3rd Zubair Ahmed and Brenda Bassford (Louth, Lincolnshire), 68.30%; 4th= George Strang and Ian Sidgwick (Northleach, Gloucestershire), 67.37%; and 4th= Michael Stafford and Cos Corry (Lincoln), 67.37%.

Tuesday: 1st Keith Boulton and Barry Blyth (Prestbury, Cheshire), 69.93%; 2nd Steve Codling and Pete Franks (Whitby), 69.22%; 3rd Diane Tucker and Chris Waites (Lines, Saffron Waldon), 69.05%; 4th Graham Boxall and Sue Rankin (Highfield, Jersey), 68.62%; and 5th Lionel Thacker and James Murray (Lingwood, Chelmsford), 68.19%.
