Auction of pulp fiction art for charity

-

When art dealer Mike Snelle turned to making art as a way of coping with depression, he had no idea that it might lead to helping others with a similar problem. He and fellow dealer James Golding, who also suffered from anxiety issues, became The Connor Brothers, creating artworks based

on pulp fiction covers, with titles they made up or borrowed from other contexts. Now, they have teamed up with London’s Maddox Gallery to raise money for mental health charity CALM. Following last week’s online launch of a print priced at £120, in an edition of 84, which sold out within three minutes, this Wednesday at the gallery rap singer Professor Green will auction one of their paintings with an estimate of £25,000. Also on show will be 20 oil paintings and small studies exploring, says Snelle, the boundary between truth and fiction in the social media-obsessed age.
