Inquiry hears Iraqi prisoner ‘maltreated’

An Iraqi detainee who died in RAF custody on board a Chinook helicopter just after the Iraq invasion in 2003 may have been “maltreated” in the moments before death, an inquiry has heard. Tariq Sabri Mahmud died after breaking free from his plastic handcuffs while in the air, the High Court heard on Tuesday. It was also alleged he was restrained with a tighter hood.
