Spain’s PM in vote of no confidence

-

Mariano Rajoy, Spain’s prime minister, was last night trying to hold his fragile government together in the face of a no-confidence vote to be tabled by opposition leader Pedro Sánchez amid a corruption scandal that saw his former treasurer jailed.

Failing that, Mr Rajoy’s hung parliament could also be brought down by calls in parliament for a third general election in as many years.
