Paying customers angered by Labour gig ticket giveaway

- By Kate Mccann SENIOR POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT

LABOUR members who have bought tickets to the party’s summer festival have demanded their money back after it emerged people were being offered free entry and transport to the gig.

Ticket sales have been so poor that local Labour branches are now offering the freebies, but the party is refusing to refund those party members who have already paid £35 for a ticket.

On Twitter, Socialist Workers in Europe sent a message to Jennie Formby, Labour’s general secretary, to ask for a refund after an email from a local branch was made public, showing 30 people were being given free entry.

Owen Jones, The Magic Numbers and Jeremy Corbyn will all be at the event in central London, which was designed to build on the leader’s appearance at Glastonbury last year.
