Warning after ‘Snapchat pills’ leave two girls in hospital

-

♦“catchy” names for dangerous drugs are putting young lives in danger, police have warned, after “Snapchat pills” left two girls in hospital.

Illicit drug makers often press pills into shapes resembling well-known logos or brands, making potentially deadly substances appear innocuous or attractive to young people.

West Yorkshire Police has disclosed that two girls – aged 12 and 13 – needed hospital treatment after taking so-called “Snapchat pills” in Castleford, Wakefield, on Tuesday. The girls were described as being in a stable condition after being found by officers at about 4.40pm. A 13-yearold boy was later arrested in connection with drugsrelated offences.

Police said that “drugs are often given catchy names to appeal to young people”, who were urged to “refuse and report” such pills.
