Teachers save life of colleague who collapsed

-

Teachers saved the life of a colleague after she suffered a heart attack in front of shocked pupils.

Doctors later said supply teacher Laura Summers, 32, who collapsed on the school field at Sandown Bay Academy on the Isle of Wight, only had a 2 per cent chance of survival.

Fellow teachers managed to restart her heart by performing CPR and using the school’s defibrillator.

She was put into an induced coma for three days before having a pacemaker fitted, and was able to leave hospital eight days after the incident.

Mrs Summers said medics had no idea why she suffered the heart attack.
