Hacking it
SIR – Objecting to negative stereotypes in the word hacker (Leading Article, June 26) may perhaps reflect the sensitivities of a younger generation.
As a robust tackler (in my youth) on the football pitch, and (still) prone to frequent the long grass on any golf course, I am nevertheless very happy, despite any negative connotations, to be described as a hacker. Dr Trevor Jones
