Puppy takes a bite from rattlesnake for its owner

A six-month-old golden retriever puppy has been hailed a hero after suffering a rattlesnake bite to save its owner.

Todd jumped in front of Paula Godwin when she almost stepped on the venomous serpent on a walk near their home in Anthem, Arizona.

Instead of Ms Godwin’s legs, the snake’s fangs sank into her pet’s snout. Todd suffered swelling but after a shot of anti-venom and 12 hours at the vet’s was allowed home to recover.
