Kenyan officers charged with Briton’s murder

Three Kenyan police officers have been charged with the 2012 murder of a British aristocrat’s son near Mombasa.

Naftali Chege, Charles Wangombe Munyiri and Baraka Bulima denied the murder charges yesterday and were detained until July 19 pending a ruling on their application for bail.

Alexander Monson was 28 when he was found dead in a jail cell after being detained during a night out in Diani. An inquest found there had been attempts to cover up what happened.
