Washing, not drying

SIR – SE Bennett (Letters, July), whose garden is dying for lack of water, should consider installing a water butt and saving washing-up water, as I am doing to keep my unusually dry garden watered. Julie Hewitt

SIR – I have read a lot recently of the wish to legalise cannabis. However, one point of view is consistently ignored – namely the people who live next door to regular cannabis smokers.

As a poor unfortunate of this scenario I could never be in favour of legalising the drug, as the effect my neighbour’s habit has on me is intolerable. I can hardly ever open my windows in the hot summer weather without a fug of cannabis fumes entering my house.

Am I expected to put up with this as my neighbour enjoys his recreational drug of choice? Bobby Smith
