Laura Barton’s Notes from a Musical Island
RADIO 4, 11.30AM
Music is often uniquely evocative of the place it was composed, and in this documentary music journalist Laura Barton visits four British locations and revels in the music created there. Music and poetic language are interwoven into sound portraits of these places, which begin with Aberdeen, where she hears folk music in the Blue Lamp, meets singer-songwriter Kathryn Joseph and duo Best Girl Athlete, and joins psych folk musician Alan Davidson walking along the River Don and through Old Aberdeen.
