Farmer given ban after pigs ate sausages

-

 A farmer has been banned from keeping animals after his pigs ate sausages.

Inspectors visiting Clive Lockton’s farm found livestock scavenging through waste near the feed storage bins. Meat including sausages, chicken and bacon sandwiches were found.

Lockton, of Todenham, Glos, previously admitted seven offences relating to animal welfare.

At Cheltenham magistrates’ court, he also admitted failing to report cattle movements, failing to put ear tags on calves within the required time limits and breaches of hygiene laws in relation to cleaning pens, feed and water troughs.

Lockton has now been banned from keeping pigs and cattle for five years and was ordered to pay £485.
