Decision over lawyers ‘significantly flawed’
A decision that cleared leading lawyers of wrongdoing over their pursuit of torture and murder claims against British troops in Iraq was “significantly flawed”, the High Court has heard.
In June last year, a solicitors’ disciplinary tribunal panel found that none of the allegations levelled at law firm Leigh Day, co-founder Martyn Day and colleagues Sapna Malik and Anna Crowther – who all deny any wrongdoing – were proved.
Yesterday, Timothy Dutton QC, for the Solicitors Regulation Authority, told three judges in London: “The tribunal’s decision is significantly flawed.” The appeal is expected to last up to six days.
