Unseen Mandela art set to sell for £500,000

-

Nelson Mandela’s last works as an artist, which urge mankind to better care for the environment, are to go on sale in the UK as they are unveiled to the public for the first time.

Two previously unseen sketches by the former president of South Africa are likely to fetch around half a million pounds each when they are sold off to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth.

They are being sold by the Belgravia Gallery on behalf of Mandela’s daughter Maki, with the proceeds going to the Mandela Foundation. The Love and Earth sketches were done by Mandela in 2004.
