The Compass: Living with Nature
WORLD SERVICE, 10.00PM
Radio can be at its most spine-tingly evocative when it revels in the natural sounds around us, and this is one such programme. The first in an extraordinary new series, Living with Nature is the work of wildlife sound recordist Chris Watson, who presents a guide to the real-life recorded soundscapes of four very different global habitats: the plains, the desert, the mountain and the forest. The beautiful recordings are thoughtfully contextualised with insight into what the sounds of each location mean to local people.
