British involvement in the Spingold, the main teams event at the Summer North American Bridge Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, went all the way up the semi final, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspondent.

In the round of 16, Stan Tulin’s team, which includes David Bahkshi from London, beat the 4 seeds, Lavazza from Italy, by 131 IMPS to 85. In the quarter final round, the Tulin team beat the 5 seeds, Lall by the impressive margin of 173-53, earning a concession at the three quarter point in the match.

The Tulin team eventually went out in the semi-final to Gawyrs from Poland, who had previously beaten the 1 seeds, by 137-68. Gawyrs plays Gupta in the final.
