Warning over super-strong ‘Trump’ ecstasy

- By Helena Horton

FESTIVAL-GOERS have been warned to avoid super-strong “Donald Trump” ecstasy pills.

Tablets stamped with the word “Trump” and a likeness of the US president were found at the Bestival music festival in Dorset.

The Loop, a not-for-profit company, trying to reduce drug-related deaths at music festivals, issued a warning after testing the pills at Bestival and finding they contained more than 250mg of the drug, more than double the strength of a normal ecstasy pill.

Pills with the same Trump branding found at festivals in Europe were of lower strength.

The company tweeted: “Tablets with “Donald Trump” logo tested by @ Wearetheloopuk at #Bestival2018 containing 250+mg of MDMA – over two doses in one tablet.”

The pills were also found on site at the Y Not Festival in Derbyshire the previous week.

Bestival shared the warning on social media, advising festival-goers not to take the super-strength pills.

The Loop tests drugs on site at festivals and warns of dangerous and superstrength pills and batches.

Fans are allowed to submit any illegal drugs they bring on to the site for analysis and are given the results.

This year was the first time The Loop had offered drug testing at the Bestival event.

Last year, 25-year-old Louella Michie died at the festival after consuming the drugs 2C-P, ketamine and MDMA.
