The verges of wildlife
SIR – After listing my wildlife projects and those of my farming neighbours, I ask curious visitors what improvements they have made to their land.
Their puzzled expression turns to embarrassment when they realise how little they have done to improve for conservation the thousands of miles of roadside verges, river banks, parks and land in public ownership.
A joint effort would be both popular and stunningly productive. Lord De Ramsey
