Epileptic man died after falling on railway tracks

An epileptic man was killed after he suffered a seizure and stumbled into the path of a train, an inquest heard.

Royceston Sargeant, 51, collapsed at East Malling station in Kent before staggering towards the end of the platform and lying on the tracks.

He was hit moments later by a train travelling at around 40mph, an inquest in Maidstone was told.

CCTV footage showed Mr Sargeant buy a ticket at around 7am on March 17 before he fell to the ground fitting.

He stood up before stumbling to the tracks in a disorienta­ted state.

The cause of death was given as fatal injuries.
