Countrywide’s plan supported

Shareholders at struggling estate agent Countrywide backed its plans to raise £140m in a rescue equity issue, paving the way for the owner of Bairstow Eves and Hamptons to cut its £200m debt pile. The vote at an extraordinary general meeting comes after Countrywide last week abandoned a new bonus scheme for senior staff.
