Knottier than ever
sir – Guidance on parcels (Letters, August 31) under “Help and advice” on the website of Parcelforce (a trading name of Royal Mail) is laudably clear: “Never use string, plastic strapping, shrink wrap or bubble wrap on the outside of your parcel as they can get stuck in our machines.”
Yet Roger Gale of the Post Office wrote (Letters, August 24) to say he was “very sorry” if anyone had been “told that twine could not be used”.
Perhaps, as with many large operations, left hand needs to communicate with right hand. Derek Longden
