Skirts and trousers for all pupils, poll shows

-

Four in 10 adults think boys and girls should be able to wear either trousers or skirts to school, a poll has found.

Just 9 per cent of mothers and fathers supported a “traditional” school uniform policy of boys in trousers and girls in skirts, while only 7 per cent thought boys and girls should all wear trousers and that skirts should be banned.

The Yougov Children’s Omnibus poll of nearly 4,000 people gave adults four options. The most popular was for boys and girls to be allowed to wear either trousers or skirts, which 40 per cent supported. Thirty-one per cent thought girls should have a choice but that boys should wear trousers.
