BBC’S Rosie has benign brain tumour removed
ROSIE MILLARD, the former BBC arts correspondent, is recovering from emergency surgery to remove a “big but benign” brain tumour.
Ms Millard, 53, said the tumour was removed following a six-hour operation at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London. The mother of four said she only realised something was wrong when she developed tinnitus in one of her ears.
When nothing was found, she “insisted” on a scan that revealed the tumour behind her right eye.
She said she had kept quiet about it until the tumour had been successfully removed and paid tribute to the “skilled” surgeons and “magnificent” doctors and nurses at the NHS hospital.
Ms Millard, who is the chief executive of Children and The Arts as well as chairman of BBC Children in Need, has been prescribed eight weeks of “total rest” to aid her recovery.
