Wheelchair rehoming

SIR – On the subject of “wheelchair shortages” (Letters, September 10), I have a friend in South Africa who, through the Rotary Club, receives 400 wheelchairs a year from Britain.

The members of his group refurbish them and distribute them. Apparently they are often in perfect condition. Maureen Holtum
