Too fat to park

-

SIR – Cars are not only too wide for roads (report, September 7), but also for on-street parking.

Recently I asked a traffic warden why he was issuing a ticket when I appeared to be legally parked. He replied that my wheel was beyond the white line that runs parallel to the kerb. When I pointed out that all the cars in the street were similarly parked, he said he was going to do them all.

The minimum distance for the line is 1.5 metres. My car, a Golf, measures 1.8m. A licence to print money?
