Graduate doctor who hit doorman may lose first job
A NEWLY qualified doctor could be struck off before his career begins after he punched a nightclub doorman while celebrating his graduation.
Dr Sam Jones, 24, was arrested and held in police cells after he assaulted the doorman when he was thrown out of Cruise Club, Chester, in October last year. He was cautioned by the police and told to pay the unnamed man £50 compensation.
However, Dr Jones now faces a fitness to practise medicine exam after being reported to the General Medical Council just six weeks intro his new job at Sunderland Hospital.
Dr Jones said: “I am extremely ashamed of my behaviour that day.”
The hearing continues.
