‘Dramatic decline’ in rhinos killed by poachers
The number of rhinos killed for their horns by poachers in South Africa has dropped by 26 per cent in the first eight months of the year, officials said.
The government said yesterday that most provinces have experienced “dramatic declines” in the killing of rhinos, with a total of 508 poached since the start of the year until August, down 691 over the same period last year. The country lost 1,028 rhinos to poaching in 2017.
