On the ball

-

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex went head-to-head yesterday in the first public sporting rivalry of their marriage as they joined young coaches for netball drills at Loughborough University. The Duchess, wearing stiletto heels, narrowly lost 2-3 to her husband at the Coach Core event, which saw them celebrate a £1million Sport England grant to expand the programme. After presenting awards, the Duke said in a speech: “Sport does not discriminate. But lack of support and barriers to access do.” David Robinson, a 7ft 1in basketball player on Prince Harry’s team, suggested he made a basic error in winning, joking: “You’ve always got to put your wife centre stage.”
