Golf club urged to stop shooting Canada geese

A golf club has been accused of shooting Canada geese because their excrement is spoiling the greens.

Protesters have condemned Leasowe Golf Club for reportedly culling geese, which are migrating south for winter.

The 127-year-old links course is located on the north coast of the Wirral peninsula near Liverpool – a favourite spot for migratory birds.

An online petition calling for an end to the practice has already attracted more than 2,500 signatures.

It was launched by Leanne Hughes, a local resident, who said it was simply “not right” to shoot the birds. Leasowe Golf Club declined to comment.
