Touchscreen germs

- John Barbrook

SIR – Much has been said recently about the spread of infections (Saturday, September 29) through airport security trays and the like.

But I have not seen much about the risks presented by touchscreens, especially in hospital and GP check-in areas, and in fast-food outlets.

These are areas where either hand-carried infections are going in or “finger-licking” food is going out, and I see little evidence that screens – let alone the fingers that touch them – ever get disinfected.
