Police sorry for father’s murder arrest
♦ Police have apologised to the family of a man who was wrongly arrested for murdering his son but died of a heart attack days after the real killer was jailed.
Freddie Stacey spent 16 weeks on remand in 2004 after being wrongly accused of killing Scott Pritchard.
Karen Tunmore was finally brought to justice earlier this month for the attack in Sunderland. A senior Northumbria Police officer apologised to Mr Stacey’s family, but they said it was “too little too late”.
