‘NHS knew we couldn’t burn body parts’

♦ The En­vi­ron­ment Agency and NHS were “re­peat­edly warned” about a loom­ing body-parts scan­dal, said Garry Pet­ti­grew, the man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the firm fac­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Mr Pet­ti­grew said: “We have seen a ma­jor drop in in­cin­er­a­tion ca­pac­ity and on nu­mer­ous oc­ca­sions we told that to our NHS cus­tomers.”

Health­care En­vi­ron­men­tal Ser­vices let large amounts of hospi­tal waste, such as nee­dles, in­fec­tious ma­te­rial and body parts, build up at some of its sites.
