Dolphin watching in the Granite City

- Samantha Herbert

With a growing reputation as one of the best places in Europe to see bottlenose dolphins, Aberdeen is to hold its first dolphin festival.

Dolphinfest will take place over the last weekend of April, giving locals and visitors to the Granite City the chance to explore the incredible world of the bottlenose dolphin.

With its high vantage point, Torry Battery – which overlooks the busy harbour of Aberdeen – is a rare spot from where wildlife fans can view the dolphins from the middle of a city.

The festival will take place at four locations over four days and will aim to get people engaged with and enthused by the marine wildlife on their doorstep.

Dolphinfest forms part of the popular Dolphinwatch project, which is now in its seventh year. A full programme of events will be announced at the beginning of March.
