The gundog demonstrations are a consistent crowd favourite. See the UK’S top gundogs in the Home International Team Gundog Competition, held every year at the Game Fair since 1969. Teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will go head to head in a purpose-built arena over two days, working spaniels and retrievers. And The Euro Challenge will see eight teams travel from Europe to compete against England in a one-day event on Friday 28 July. Each team, consisting of three handlers and three different types of retriever, will be put through a testing set of retrieves, simulating the many situations that arise in the field.

If you and your gundog are game to have a go, BASC will be holding gundog scurries all weekend. There will be plenty of prizes to win, as well as points for the scurry league and the chance to attend the final event at the end of the summer. And for the first time, the Lord Litchfield trophy is up for grabs for the weekend’s fastest dog. Better start the training regime.
