turn somehow side-footed wide from five yards out to his horror and that of his team-mates.

Crewe broke the deadlock on 61 minutes when Pogba saw his shot from 20 yards take a wicked deflection off Reece Wabara and loop past the diving Dean Bouzanis.

Oldham forced an equaliser on 82 minutes when substitute Taylor took advantage of an Ellis slip and slotted the ball past Steve Phillips from 12 yards.

The winner arrived two minutes later as Byron Moore broke down the left and crossed to the far post for Ellis to head the winner, leaving Latics boss Paul Dickov hoping for an upturn in fortunes.

“It was the same old story,” he said. “We played ever so well, created chances but came away with nothing. It was another sickener.

“We worked ever so hard to get back into the game and played some decent stuff.

“We had 65 per cent possession and had 19 shots at goal.

“It’s really disappointing. Crewe are a good footballing team though and we played well.

“We’ve got to stay positive and we’ll soon get results. We have to roll our sleeves up and we’ll keep trying to win games.”
