LEE GREEN – YORK CITY

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

GUTTED, mugged, robbed and devastated are all words that we could use to describe this game. It should have all been over half-time.

York had two strong penalty appeals turned down, and only the heroics of the Accrington keeper Paul Rachubka along with a goalline clearance kept them in the game until the 46th minute when Adam Reed broke the deadlock and put City in front at half time.

Accrington were hardly out of their half in the first 45 minutes, their only shot on target was from a disputed free-kick from the edge of the York area.

The second half was a more evenly matched affair with York appearing to sit quite deep and inviting Accrington to attack. The pressure that York were inviting proved too much as after a melee in the area Peter Murphy somehow managed to squeeze the ball home. The draw does less for York than Accrington, but we have got enough to stay up!
